Why do we have crooked teeth? Only around 10% of the UK population have their teeth emerging in the correct place in relation to their jaw bones growth as they grow up. In other words, this means that many of us have jaws that are too small, big or out of proportion to each other….
Over the summer holiday, children (between the ages of 2-17) eat 5 times more sugar than during term time, with the principal perpetrators being ice cream and sugary drinks. Ageing is inevitable and many of us worry about sagging skin, drooping jowls and general loss of volume to areas of the face. Addressing the lip area alone can significantly contribute to a younger looking appearance. Lip fillers are a fast and minimally-invasive way of improving your facial aesthetic and if you are unhappy with the volume, shape, or symmetry of your lips, we can help. Read on to find out about the benefits and what’s involved in the treatment process.
What is involved?
Firstly, we will invite you to attend an initial consultation where we will take a look at your medical history and assess and photograph your lips. You will be able to discuss your expectations of the treatment and we will talk you through the details surrounding the procedure and answer any questions you might have. Following the consultation, we can move forward with treatment; we will apply an anaesthetic cream to numb the lips to ensure you are comfortable throughout. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers will be injected into the lips, naturally hydrating and enhancing their shape and volume. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body – when you are young, your supply of it is ample and this is what gives you a young-looking appearance. As you age, the supply depletes; lip fillers temporarily restore the levels of hyaluronic acid to the lip area to give an authentic result.
The benefits of lip fillers
Natural enhancement – At Keppel Skin, we believe that aesthetic treatments should enhance your existing features rather than modify your appearance.
Instant results and no downtime – Today, the demand for instant results are high and cosmetic surgery is no longer as popular as in the past, taking several weeks to yield results. In the case of lip fillers, you will see the effects of treatment immediately and there is no post-treatment resting period or need to take time out to recover from the procedure – you can continue with your normal activities as soon as you leave the practice.
Lip volume control – We can control the degree of volume you want from the lip fillers treatment, so you’ll get the precise result you’re looking for, unlike surgical aesthetic treatments where results can be unpredictable.
Long lasting – The effects of lip fillers will last between 6-9 months and subsequent treatment will create a foundation for treatment to last longer each time you have them.
Safe – At Keppel Skin, our Aesthetic Director, Priya Suaris has an extensive medical background, enabling her to carry out the treatment 100% safely. If you are thinking about having lip fillers or indeed any non-surgical aesthetic treatment, it is imperative that it is performed by someone with medical experience (such as a doctor or dentist) rather than a beauty therapist.
If you would like more information about the treatments available to you at Keppel Skin, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us or attend one of our aesthetic evening with Aesthetic Director, Priya Suaris.

Dr Tom Keppel
BA BDENTSC (Dublin), GDC No: 68586
I have been working as a cosmetic and restorative dentist at Keppel Dentistry in Sutton, Surrey, UK for nearly 20 years as well as Harley Street in Central London. I help you to have a smile that not only looks great, but that functions perfectly as well, ensuring that you look and feel your best.
I help people to ensure that they have healthy teeth and they maintain them. I want to prevent dental caries and tooth decay as much as possible, as well oral cancer. Dental health and reducing tooth decay is the starting point for any good dental treatment
My enthusiasm for continuing education led me to The Pankey Institute and Spear Education in the USA, as well as the renowned Eastman Hospital in London. By increasing my knowledge and skills I have been able to offer a much wider range treatments to the highest quality.
My philosophy of ‘form follows function’ means that how you chew is as important as how you smile. I find the field of jaw and tooth function fascinating. Restoring a smile is greatly satisfying to me, for a patient to be able to eat a steak again with comfort is equally important.
My team and I do not rush, if you are nervous or anxious we help you relax. We make you feel valued and genuinely cared for. Ultimately, many of our patients get the new-found confidence and fabulous feeling of wellbeing that a fantastic, natural-looking smile provides.
Dr Tom Keppel trained at Trinity College, Dublin, gained a further post graduate qualification at the renowned Eastman Dental Hospital. He continues his professional development by attending courses in the UK and worldwide.
Henry qualified as a dentist from the University of Melbourne, Australia, in 2004. He has held hospital posts in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, as well as Paediatric and Restorative dentistry and gained Membership at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2007. Henry was appointed specialist registrar in Orthodontics at Charles Clifford Dental Hospital in Sheffield and subsequently gained his Intercollgiate Membership in Orthodontics and also registration as a specialist orthodontist with the General Dental Council in 2013.
Henry provides orthodontic treatment to all age groups using modern and efficient clinical techniques.
